Catching up with.... Jenny Hales

Welcome to Southend Scout and Guide Gang Show's monthly feature 'Catching up with'. Here we will catch up with cast past and present as well as the adult volunteers who make It's a Date and SHINDIGS possible.

This month we talk with former Southend Gang Show cast member now turned show Production Manager, Jenny Hales

  1. Introduce yourself and tell us what your role within Southend Gang Show is?

Hi, I am Jenny Hales, and I am the Production Manager for Southend Gang Show.

  2. When was your first Southend Gang Show and how many shows have you now been a part of?

My first show was as a Brownie in 1984 where I remember running out of the toad stall. Then as a Guide, I also participated in the show as part of 1st Westcliff Scout and Guide band and I have been a part of Southend Gang Show ever since.

  3. Best moment being a part of Southend Gang Show?

I have so many ‘best moments’ as part of Southend Gang Show. I loved a Ski sketch I was in with proper length ski’s which was fun on the stage. I guess I should also say dancing with Del when he was a stand in for my actual dance partner due to illness, we then started dating and got married 2 years later.

  4. What do you get out of being a part of Southend Gang Show and why do you think people should get involved in SHINDIGS 2017?

It's great fun and I love meeting new and old friends.

  5. Favourite Southend Gang Show item?

Oh now that’s a hard one, I always love the finale’s and how smart every one looks in their uniform’s and how emotional they can sometimes be.

  6. What have you been up to in the past few months since It’s a Date 2016?

Essex International Jamboree has taken up a lot of family time in my house.

  7. What are you most looking forward to about the next SHINDIGS/It’s a Date?

Meeting old and making new friends.
